Movie reviews

Irreverent theater.

We've pre (or in some cases re) vewed a whole bunch of wedding-oriented movies for you people, and frankly we think we've been, er, affected by all of the hours we have spent absorbing Hollywood's impression of all things related to weddings. Apparently, you can't make a wedding without help from from your brother-in-law who is in cahoots with the mob. Or you can, if you run off to Vegas, but only because you're intending to marry some stranger and then divorce immediately afterward so that you can tell everyone you've been married, thus removing the taint of being a single woman. We've noticed that a whole lot of brides are confused about exactly who it is they want to marry. And junior bridesmaids think that they're going to move in with the newlyweds, while groomsmen are Shakespeare-spouting, gay ex-Marine bank robbers.

It has been quite an education. I guess we're ready to get married, now that we have a realistic impression of what it's like.

Oh, one more thing. There are references in a few of these to Coffee Talk, as in the "show" put on by Mike Myers' flawlessly hilarious Linda Richman character. Just wanted to give the guy his props by correctly crediting the reference.
